The Egesdal Funeral Home is Gaylord, Minnesota was purchased by Hantge Funeral Chapels in January of 2004.  Elden "Al" Egesdal had been owner of the funeral home for the past 26 years.  Elden Egesdal purchased Gaylord's Quist and Johnson Funeral Chapel in 1977.  Egesdal had been involved in funeral service since 1962, and had served the communities of St. Peter, Gaylord, and Fairfax, Minnesota.  Elden "Al" is a native of Elsmore, Minnesota and a graduate of the University of Minnesota Department of Mortuary Science.

The sale of the Egesdal Funeral Home to Hantge Funeral Chapels is part of the long-range retirement plan of Elden "Al" Egesdal.  The funeral home will continue to operate in Gaylord under the management of Elden Egesdal.  The sale of the business will ensure continued service to the residents of Gaylord, New Auburn, and Bernadotte communities.  A name change is not in the immediate plans.  Elden has expressed "great satisfaction" that responsible people with a long-time reputation for outstanding service will continue to service the families of Gaylord and the surrounding communities.
