Joel Anderson, 55, passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly on January 16, 2014 due to complications from a severe bout of pneumonia/bronchitis.
Joel was born to Lucille and Clifford Anderson on July 8, 1958, in the Renville County Hospital in Olivia. He grew up in Hector, Minnesota, where he graduated from Hector High School in 1976. He attended St. Cloud State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in political science and history. He then attended William and Mitchell Law School and followed that with attending and graduating from Control Data Institute (Computer School).
Joel worked as a computer programmer for several years and thoroughly enjoyed his jobs at Bankers Systems and Fuller. He then decided to go out on his own as an information technology consultant forming his own company, Total Software Solutions. With TSS Inc. Joel worked short stints with Parabody, Rollerblade, and Medtronic. Once his company was up and running, Joel had two main clients that he split time with, Cardinal Glass Corporation and Washington County. Joel served Washington County for 20 years and Cardinal for 17 1/2 years. He was well respected in his profession and highly praised. While with Washington County, Joel was nominated for and awarded the NACO Achievement Award for his part as the chief programmer and system developer of the Automated Tract Index System. This software was introduced at the national convention to be marketed nationwide. A hybrid of that system is still in use across several different counties within the state of Minnesota.
Joel was joined in marriage to Jae on August 21, 1982. They were married 31 wonderful years. They enjoyed many things together including traveling, fitness activities, attending sporting events (especially the Twins), hanging out with friends and family, listening to music, caring for their cats, and extreme adventure activities.
Joel is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jae Anderson; mother, Lucille Lundstrom; sister, Janis Cimperman; brother, Michael (Pat); brother, Jerry Anderson; Mother-in-law, Nicole Glasoe; brother-in-law James Glasoe (Ann); sister-in-law, Joelle Smith (David); Nephews, Michael Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Michael Glasoe, John Glasoe, Christopher Boissenin; nieces, Sarah Cimperman, Jennifer Cimperman; and numerous friends and extended family.
Joel has left his mark, as only he could, on each of his family and friends. His faith was strong, his work was done, and may he rest in peace.
