Lawrence A. Polzin, age 85, of Gaylord passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in Brownsville, Texas.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 10, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn at a later date.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, March 9, 2018, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Obituary
Lawrence August Polzin was born on September 16, 1932, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the fifth of eight children born to Walter and Sylvia (Wegner) Polzin. Lawrence was baptized as an infant on October 9, 1932, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 14, 1946, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. He grew up on the family farm and went to school in New Auburn. He was a 1950 graduate of the Glencoe High School. Lawrence attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
On August 20, 1955, Lawrence was united in marriage to Carole Fehr at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. Lawrence worked for the Gaylord Creamery, owned and operated Polzin Roofing, was a Gaylord school bus driver for over 25 years, and had many miscellaneous odd jobs. Lawrence and Carole were blessed with four children. They shared 62 years of marriage.
Lawrence was a member of American Lutheran Church in Gaylord, was past president and served on the church council. He was a lifelong member of the GPL and a former Jaycee.
Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, Gaylord Spartans, was a champion cribbage player, and loved to travel. He traveled to all the 50 states, most of the Canadian Providences, many Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and spent the last 14 winters on South Padre Island. He was proud to be called a winter Texan.

Sisters-In-Law, Carol Polzin Magnuson of New Brighton, MN and Kathy Fehr of Spicer, MN;

Lawrence was preceded in death by his Parents, Walter and Sylvia Polzin; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Harland and Marjorie Fehr; Siblings, Dorothy Polzin, Marvin and Beata Polzin, Delores and Les Steffl, Willard Polzin, Arlene Overlie; Brothers-In-Law, Jim Fehr and Ed Magnuson; Special God Child, Shirley Murashie.
