Service Information
Marilyn Templin (wife of the late Ernie Templin) age 89, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Service Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 3, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Wednesday.
Obituary
Marilyn Mercedes (Kern) Templin (wife of the late Ernie Templin) was born on May 19, 1928, at home in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of George and Lydia (Podratz) Kern. Marilyn was baptized as an infant, on June 3, 1928 by Rev. Schert at home and later confirmed in her faith on April 27, 1941, by Rev. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. She received her education at School District #19 in Bergen Township.
On June 10, 1947, Marilyn was united in marriage to Ernie Templin by Rev. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. They were blessed with one son, Curt. Marilyn and Ernie shared 64 years of marriage until Ernie passed away July 18, 2011.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marilyn worked at Strutwear for 7 years. She then worked at Telex for 50 years before she retired. Marilyn also worked side by side with her husband at farming.
Marilyn was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and served with the LWML Society, Alter Guild and helped with funerals. Marilyn was a lifetime member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary #5102 where she enjoyed assisting in fingerprinting, pillow cleaning and poppy luncheon. She also volunteered at the Clothing Depot and Care Connection
Marilyn enjoyed flowers, gardening, baking, and canning, specifically her famous pickles. She loved to travel with Ernie and when he was stationed overseas, Marilyn traveled to 12 different countries, after retiring the couple enjoyed cruises and went to Mexico five times. Marilyn enjoyed time spent with her family who were very dear to her and she also valued being a “grandmother” to many other children.
Marilyn passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 10 days.

Great Grandchildren, Breana & Gracey Templin, Kali and Anthony Marshall;
Sister, Orvilla Prehn, of Glencoe, MN;
Former Daughter-in-law, Sandy Templin;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her Parents, George and Lydia Kern; Husband, Ernie Templin; Sisters, Lorrinna Schaefer and her husband, Adam, Lois Dose and her husband, Walter; Brother-in-law, Marvin Prehn, Earl Sprengeler, Harry Templin, Maynard Templin, Lester Templin, Howard Templin, infant Jerry Templin.

suffer too long. I know she was ready to go right after finding out about the cancer. She was a strong woman and loved her family.
