Service Information
Alfred L. Inselmann Jr., age 85, of Litchfield, formerly Cosmos, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos.
Military Honors by Beack-Thompson American Legion Post 126 of Cosmos, Minnesota.
Obituary
Alfred LeRoy Inselmann Jr. was born on March 28, 1934, in Hector, Minnesota. He was the son of Alfred and Selma (Markgraf) Inselmann. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 16, 1948, by Pastor E.J. Kaiser, both at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, Minnesota. He received his education at country school and earned his General Education Diploma while he was in the service.
Alfred entered active military service in the United States Army on January 23, 1957, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Alfred was honorably discharged on February 28, 1963, at United States Personnel Center in Oakland, California, having achieved the rank of SP4 (T).
On February 24, 1961, Alfred was united in marriage to Darlene Heller at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. This marriage was blessed with two children, Kaloni and Kevin. Alfred and Darlene resided in Cosmos following their marriage, then Hutchinson for one year in 1963, then back to the Cosmos area for 25 years, and most recently Litchfield, since 1989. They shared 58 years of marriage.
Alfred was employed at Anderson Brothers Farms in Cosmos, Minnesota, for 33 years, and then employed at Uni-Hydro Incorporated for 17 years and Wagner Elementary School in Litchfield for 10 years until his retirement in 2011.
He was also a faithful church member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the Beack-Thompson American Legion Post 126 of Cosmos, Minnesota, and was recently awarded his 50- year membership certificate.
In his spare time, Alfred enjoyed playing card and computer games. He also enjoyed dancing, while he was able and listening to old-time music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Alfred was admitted to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield on May 18, 2019, before going to Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center. He passed away there on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the age of 85 years. Blessed be his memory.

Brother, Ralph Inselmann and his wife, Betty of Cosmos, MN;
Sisters, Shirley Anderson of Hector, MN,
Darlene Farenbaugh of Bird Island, MN;
Many other relatives and friends;
Alfred was preceded in death by his Parents, Alfred and Selma Inselmann; Father and Mother-In-Law, Ervin and Esther Heller; Brothers-In-Law, Ned Anderson, Lenard Farenbaugh.
