Arleen Schmidt age 81, of Arlington, formerly of New Auburn Township, passed away Sunday, December 27th, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington.
Funeral Service will be Monday, January 4th, 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Helen Township, McLeod County, with interment in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 3rd, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Arleen Florence (Wilking) Schmidt was born on February 26, 1934, in Granby Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ernest and Edna (Krohn) Wilking. Arleen was baptized as an infant on March 11, 1934, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet by Reverend Koehler, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 30, 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Mankato, by Reverend R.A. Haase. She received her education in North Mankato.
On August 5, 1956, Arleen was united in marriage to Werner Schmidt at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Mankato, Minnesota, by Reverend R.A. Haase. After their marriage the couple resided in New Auburn. In March of 1968, they moved to their farm in New Auburn Township, Sibley County. She was a loving mother and homemaker.
Arleen was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Helen Township.
Arleen enjoyed baking pies, bread and making grandma rolls. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, embroidering, cooking, her chickens, antiques, garage sales and taking care of animals. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington and passed away there on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, 1 day. Blessed be her memory.

Sisters, Lois Bjorklund and her husband, Paul; and Mavis Guse and her husband, Herbert;
Other Relatives and Friends.
Arleen was preceded in death by her Parents, Ernest and Edna Wilking; and Husband, Werner Schmidt.
