Obituary
Carol Alberta (Jessen) Klaustermeier was born on October 26, 1942 in Luverne, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert and Erna (Bartels) Jessen. Carol was baptized as an infant on November 15, 1942, by Rev. A. G. Schultz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 20, 1956, by Rev. G. J. Gerike at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, Minnesota. She received her education in Luverne, Minnesota, graduating with the Luverne High School Class of 1960. Carol furthered her education by attending Concordia College in St. Paul, receiving an Associate of Arts Degree in teaching. Carol came to Lester Prairie to teach in the one-room schoolhouse at St. Peter Lutheran Church, teaching there until a tornado devastated the church and school in May of 1965.

The couple made their home on the Klaustermeier family farm in Lester Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Mary, David and Amy. Carl and Carol shared over 50 years of marriage until Carl passed away on May 29, 2016.
Carol was a prayerful person who was dedicated to her husband, Carl and was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. For many years, Carol enjoyed tending to a large garden filled with flowers and spent much of her time crocheting. She resumed her love of education, working as a para-professional at Lester Prairie School for 20 years, retiring in June 2006.
