Dennis Poock, age 72, of Gaylord passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 6, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, February 5, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. -7:00 P.M. at Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Prayer Service will be at 7:00 P.M. Gathering of Family and Friends will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Military Honors by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433 in Gaylord.
Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Obituary
Dennis Dean Poock was born on December 13, 1948, in Waverly, Iowa. He was the son of Lorenz and Bernice (Kuhlmann) Poock. Dennis was baptized as an infant at home in Fremont Township, Bremer County, Readlyn, Iowa, on December 29, 1948. He was later confirmed as a youth in Sumner, Iowa. He received his education in West Liberty, Iowa, and was a graduate of the West Liberty High School Class of 1968.
On August 19, 1968, Dennis entered the United States Army Reserve in Davenport, Iowa. He received his Honorable Discharge on June 11, 1974.
On September 26, 1970, Dennis was united in marriage to Carol Fuhrmeister at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in West Branch, Iowa. After their marriage, the couple resided in West Liberty, Iowa, and in 1974 they moved to Gaylord, Minnesota. Dennis and Carol were blessed with two children, Terry and Ann. They shared 50 years of marriage.
Dennis raised chickens for Midwest Poultry in Iowa, and then owned and operated R&J Poultry in Gaylord. He worked for Garid Corporation in Eden Prairie, Crown Plastics in Plymouth, Specialty Solutions in Gaylord. He retired and helped with Janal Design Rental, decorating for weddings.
Dennis was a member of the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433 in Gaylord.
Dennis enjoyed all types of fishing, especially Muskie and Bass. He also enjoyed deer hunting, pontooning, going to the cabin, woodworking, and playing cards with his grandchildren. He helped make maple syrup every spring. Dennis cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Dennis passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 72 years. Blessed be his memory.

Step-Grandchildren, Alia, Brandi and Mikaela;
Step-Great Grandchildren, Aiden, Vincent, Olivia, Amelia, Maliyah and Zayne;
Siblings, Lyle (Val) Poock of Faribault, MN, Kenneth Poock of CA, Danny (Jane) Poock of Frytown, IA, Betty (Steve) Elder of West Liberty, IA, Dale Poock of West Liberty, IA, Jim (Mary Sue) Poock of Parnell, IA, and Julie (William) Kinner of Wellman, IA;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his Parents, Lorenz and Bernice Poock.
