Obituary
Donna was born on November 16, 1939, in New Ulm, Minnesota, to Helen (Schulz) and Edwin Plagge. She attended New Ulm High School and, among other things, enjoyed attending dances at George’s Ballroom. There she met her future husband, Robert (Bob) Young of Gaylord. They were married on February 28, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Ulm, and set up residence in Gaylord. Donna and Bob celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.
Together, they raised three sons, Steve, Gary and Brian (Bucky), who were the light of Donna’s life. That light shone even brighter for her grandchildren Cole, Ross, Tim, Max, Dylan, and Faith.
For many years, Donna ran a daycare center in her home. She loved those under her care, almost as much as her own children. Many of Gaylord’s finest residents got their start at Donna’s Daycare on Division Street.
Donna was a known kibitzer. She had a gift of gab and wasn’t shy about sharing her gifts–especially with family and friends. She also loved reading, gardening, ceramics, and crafts of all kinds.
Donna is survived by her husband, Bob, sons/wives Steve (Patty), Gary (Pam), Brian (Judy), and six grandchildren Cole, Ross (Karen), Tim (Kylee), Max, Dylan and Faith; other relatives and friends.
Donna is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Laurie; parents Helen and Edwin Plagge; and a brother, Duane.
The family requests that cards or notes be mailed to Bob Young at PO Box 381, Gaylord, MN 55334.
Karen Rasmussen says
Blessings to the Young family.
Margi Swanson says
So sorry about Donna. I enjoyed seeing her at Oak Terrace, and now with the pandemic I am saddened that I haven’t seen her for a while. I remember her glorious smile in church during previous years. I believe God was always with her and never forgot her, just as her loving family were faithful to her. Blessings. Margi Swanson
