Edward Schugg, age 71, of New Auburn, Minnesota, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 14, 2018, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the funeral chapel on Saturday.
Obituary
Edward Lawrence Schugg was born on December 8, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was the son of Melvin and Leata (Roen) Schugg. Edward was baptized as an infant on December 8, 1946, at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 17, 1962, by Rev. R.F. Meissner at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. He received his education in Glencoe, Minnesota, graduating with the Glencoe High School Class of 1964. Edward entered active military service in the United States Navy on February 5, 1964, and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge on February 4, 1966.
On June 30, 2001, Edward was united in marriage to Cheryl Ann Grack by Rev. Harvey Kath at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. Edward and Cheryl made their home in New Auburn, Minnesota. Their life was blessed with both of their four children, Kelly, Kaylynn, Fred and Barbara. Edward and Cheryl shared over 17 years of marriage.
Edward was a truck driver for over 40 years. He was a member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. Edward was also a lifetime member of the Glencoe VFW Post #5102 until he transferred to the New Auburn VFW Post #7266 and was a member of the Glencoe American Legion Post #95.
Edward loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and ice fishing. He enjoyed visiting the Major Avenue Hunt Club where he grew up as a teenager. Edward also liked to play sheephead, grill and never turned down a time to go to Breezy Point Resort on family vacations. He treasured the time spent with his family and friends.
Edward passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 30 days.

Edward was preceded in death by his Parents, Melvin “Hap” and Leata Schugg; Step Mother, Lillian Schugg; Grandparents, Edward and Louise Schugg, Theodore and Edna Roen; Sister, Sandra Lee Bennett; Nephew, Daniel Schauer; Brothers-In-Law, Robert Moldenhauer, David Moldenhauer.
