Obituary
Everald Amelia Haspert was born December 15, 1918, in Hector Township, Renville County, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Alma (Beske) Sing. She was baptized as an infant at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, and confirmed there as a youth. She was later confirmed into the Catholic faith at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector. Everald grew up on a farm south of Hector, and attended country school.
On June 28, 1938, Everald was united in marriage to Nicholas Haspert at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector. They made their home in Hector where they raised their children, Jaylene and Tom. Everald enjoyed her role as homemaker and mother while Nick owned the Hector Service Implement Company, and also worked in the business partnership of Fairway Construction with Everald’s brother Myrel Sing and Howard Musil. Everald sewed the clothing for Jaylene and herself out of necessity, but gained pure enjoyment from it. She loved to crochet doilies and knit placemats. Everald absolutely loved jewelry and had quite a collection. After retirement, Everald and Nick spent winters in McAllen, Texas, where they could enjoy the company of friends from Hector and Buffalo Lake. They were blessed to have shared 61 years of marriage before Nick passed away on June 15, 2000. Everald continued living in Hector until 2012 when she moved into the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Everald was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector where she had been active with C.C.W. She had also served as a Girl Scout leader.
