Obituary
Helen Rohe Koepp, age 95, formerly of Brownton, passed away on July 10, 2018 at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, where she had been resident for more than a year. She was an amazing mother to 11 children, and throughout her long life, no matter how busy she was, she spread love and goodwill among everyone within reach.
She was born Helen Annette Marie Rohe on February 12, 1923, in Tyler, North Dakota, to the Rev. Walter E. Rohe and Anna (Guetzko) Rohe. It was her father who officiated at her wedding, on June 20, 1943, to Reinhard (R.W.) Koepp, also a Lutheran pastor. They served parishes in O’Neill and Atkinson, Nebraska, and Green Isle, Minnesota, before settling in Brownton in 1949. Throughout their 57 years of marriage, until and beyond his death in 2001, Helen was an outstanding homemaker, a model of patience and gentleness, a peacemaker, and one who always stood up for the underdog and “the right thing to do.” She was one of a kind.
Helen is mourned by her children Reinhard Koepp, Ken (Jan) Koepp, Karen Koepp, Marla (Bob) Lichtsinn, Vern (Cindy) Koepp, Irene (Dave) Schwartz, Marty Koepp, Aaron (Laury Browning) Koepp, Esther Koepp and Joanne Koepp; Sister, Ruth Chandler; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Reinhard Koepp, son, Bob Koepp, parents, Walter and Anna Rohe, sister, Luella Kjos and brothers Carl Rohe, Herb Rohe, Art Rohe and Paul Rohe.
Helen’s family thanks you for your thoughts, prayers and kindness. We hope you take the love and happiness you received from her and spread it to others in your life.
