Helen Schons, age 92, of Gaylord passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord with interment in the Gaylord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8:00 A.M.-9:30 A.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home on Saturday.
Obituary
Helen Rose Schons was born on May 9, 1926, in Mankato, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Allie and Lydia (Braam) Willaert. Helen was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato, Minnesota. She received her education in North Mankato.
On June 12, 1944, Helen was united in marriage to Raymond Schons. After their marriage the couple farmed the family homestead in Nicollet Township, Nicollet County until 1973. They moved to Gaylord in 1981. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Helen and Raymond were blessed with five children. They shared 43 years of marriage before Raymond passed away on April 24, 1988.
Helen was a member at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord.
Helen enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, going to church, playing Bingo, having coffee and visiting with friends. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Children, Dianne Froehlich and her husband, Fred of Nicollet, MN,
Dale Schons and his wife, Sue of Waseca, MN, and
Dean Schons and his wife, Laurie of Gaylord, MN;
Son-In-Law, John Weber of Gaylord, MN;
13 Grandchildren;
12 Great Grandchildren;
3 Great Great Grandchildren;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her Parents, Allie and Lydia Willaert; Husband, Raymond Schons; Son, Raymond Schons Jr.; Daughter, Donna Weber; Grandchildren, Jason and Travis Grunst; six Sisters and seven Brothers.
