Ivan Klabunde, age 76, of Eden Valley, Minnesota, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away Friday, May 18th, 2018, at his home in Eden Valley.
Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley with interment in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Gathering of family and friends will be held one hour before the service at the church.
Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Obituary
Ivan Garhardt Klabunde was born on October 19, 1941, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Carl and Florence (Griebe) Klabunde. Ivan was baptized as an infant in 1942, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth in 1962. He received his education in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School. Ivan continued his education for electronics at DeVry University in Chicago, Illinois and also attended Barber School.
Ivan entered active military service in the United States Army on January 7, 1959, at Minneapolis, Minnesota and served his country during Vietnam. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 8, 1962, in Fort Hamilton, New York and achieved the rank of Private (E2).
On December 31, 1958, Ivan was united in marriage to Darleen Roepke in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, by the Justice of the Peace. Ivan and Darleen resided in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, for 10 years, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, for over 30 years, and then made their home in Eden Valley, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children, Kelly, Kerry, and Kory. Ivan and Darleen shared 58 years of marriage until Darleen passed away on April 10, 2017.
Ivan was employed as a parts salesman at Time Savers. He was then employed as a production manager at Fabri-Tek until he retired in 2003. Ivan was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Eden Valley.
Ivan enjoyed traveling, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed yard work and carpentry. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
Ivan passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, at his home in Eden Valley, at the age of 76 years.

Son, Kory Klabunde and his wife, Kathleen, of Champlin, MN;
Son-In-Law, Ross Rugroden, of Andover, MN;
Grandchildren, Tiffany Klabunde Feges (Joe), Brittany Klabunde and her significant other, Caleb Shiltz, Sarah Dietrich, Samuel Rugroden, and Seth Rugroden;
Great-Grandchildren, Logan Varno, Liam Shiltz, Colin Shiltz, Aubriana Pouncy;
Sister, Joanne Oleson of Hutchinson, MN;
Brother-In-Law, Waldo Dohman of White Bear Lake, MN;
Sister-In-Law, Sonja Klabunde of Galt, CA;
Many other relatives and friends.
Ivan is preceded in death by his: Parents, Carl and Florence Klabunde; Wife, Darleen Klabunde; Daughter, Kerry Rugroden; Brothers, Clinton Klabunde, Lowell Klabunde, Ronald Klabunde and his wife, Shirley; Sisters, Glorian Dohman and Patricia Baltrash and her husband, Jim; and Son-In-Law, Jay Dietrich.

Ivan was a tall, good looking man with a radiant smile and a deep full bodied laugh. He was endeared to his HHS Class of 1959 classmates and will be missed. This was our uncle Ivan. He was the best and lived his life to the fullest wife his wife auntie Dar who passed a year ago. Ivan was the youngest in the family with my mother being the only sibling left, Joanne Klabunde Olesen. This guy was the best I will never forget his thoughtfulness! RIP uncle Ivan

Ivan and Darlene were my friends and neighbors when they lived in St. Louis Pk.. I would go down for coffee and they were always welcoming … now they are together again ….. a great couple…
