Janet Joan Prieve, age 83, of Hutchinson, formerly of Brownton, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016, at Woodstone Senior Living Community in Hutchinson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 15, 2016, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the Church Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Friday, 8:00 to 9:00 A.M., at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Janet Joan Prieve was born on April 24, 1933, in Watkins, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Phillip and Agnes (Schenocker) Werner. Janet was baptized as an infant in Watkins, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 2, 1948, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota. She received her education in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Academy of Holy Angels Catholic High School Class of 1951. She continued her education in the Nursing program at the Swedish School of Nursing in Minneapolis and received a Certificate in nursing in 1952.
On October 8, 1955, Janet was united in marriage to Fred Prieve, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota. They shared their honeymoon on the scenic Wisconsin Dells. This marriage was blessed with two children, Lara and Kimberly. Janet and Fred resided in Stewart and invested in farm properties. They later built their home and moved to Lake Marion, Minnesota, in 1960. They shared 60 years of marriage.
Janet was a dedicated and compassionate LPN nurse for over 50 years. She worked in hospitals, clinics, group homes, and assisted living facilities such as: Glencoe Regional Health Services, Hutchinson Mental Health, Dungarvin, Averyon Homes and Shade Tree Retirement. Janet attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.
Janet enjoyed playing cards, baking, tending to her flowers and music. She also enjoyed studying about her Catholic Faith. One of the most interesting facts about Janet was her ability to make the best apple pie that was truly appreciated by all. What all will remember her for is her fun loving nature which was a gift to all. Janet loved and cared for her family with every fiber in her being. Janet made decades of memories pulling together family celebrations from birthdays to Christmas. She truly cherished spending every moment with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Janet passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016, surrounded by her family at Woodstone Senior Living Community in Hutchinson, at the age of 83.

Great Grandson, George Rice
Sister, Marianne Schmitz of Rush City, MN;
Brother, Donald Werner and his wife, Darlene of New Prague, MN;
Many other caring nieces, nephews and family.
Janet is preceded in death by her Parents, Phillip and Agnes Werner; Brother-In-Law, John Schmitz; Nephew, Mike Schmitz.

I got to know Janet while she was at Woodstone. She always had a smile on her face. When i first met her, we had lots of laughs. Even in her later days, she still had a smile for me. She will be missed.
