Joseph “Joe” A. Nelson, age 79, Husband of Marie Nelson, of Darwin, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Private Family Services will be held.
Obituary
Joseph “Joe” A. Nelson was born on February 9, 1939, in Litchfield, Minnesota. He was the son of Roy and Martha (Larson) Nelson.
Joe was united in marriage to Marie Hagen and they were blessed with three daughters, Tammie, Julie, and Sharie. Joe and Marie have resided in the Darwin area since 1959.
Joe built a successful tree business called Nelson Tree Service in Darwin. He was a tree trimmer in the Darwin area for several years in which he loved doing and was known by many as ‘Joe the Tree Trimmer’.
Joe enjoyed playing checkers, chess, fishing, and taking his grandchildren to carnivals. He most recently became very interested in watching the old western movies. He cherished the time spent with his family, grandchildren, and friends. Joe was a big man with a heart to match. He loved his family with his whole heart and was always there for them if need be.
When Joe needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident at Harmony River Living Center on March 7, 2018. He passed away there on April 7, 2018, at the age of 79 years.

Sharie Dvorak and her husband, James, of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren, Joseph Vega and Brandi Nelson;
5 Great Grandchildren;
Siblings, Elaine Nelson of CA,
Dorothy Stimack of Rice, MN,
Glenn Nelson of Bloomington, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his Parents, Roy and Martha Nelson.
