Obituary
Lara Kay Prieve was born on August 1, 1956, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frederick “Fred” and Janet (Werner) Prieve. Lara was baptized as an infant, received her First Holy Communion, and was confirmed in her youth all at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota. She received her education in Brownton, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Brownton High School Class of 1974.
After graduation Lara went on to receive her license as a Barber, which she did for many years before furthering her education at the University of Minnesota where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communications.
After graduating from college, Lara resided in Minneapolis, Apple Valley, and later settled and made her home in Eden Prairie.
Lara was employed as an IT Project Manager at Medtronic, United Health, Best Buy, and most recently was employed with Target. Healthy living, fitness, organic eating, and holistic approaches to life were very important to Lara. She was a certified Qigong Level 2 Trainer in Healing, and also enjoyed yoga.
Lara enjoyed traveling the world. Some of her favorite places to visit were Paris, New York City, California, and most recently Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. She loved the beautiful sequoia trees in California and hoped to be able to see them many times in her life. She adored her rescue cat “Punk’n.” He was the center of her world and she made sure he felt loved all the time. Lara was an avid reader and loved in-depth research on many topics. She loved a great conversation about the world, health, politics, or whatever you had on your mind. Lara spent much of her time making sure people knew how much she cared for them and enjoyed all the time and conversations they had together. She truly loved her little great-nephews, George and Lewis, and loved to facetime George. She would watch videos of those two over and over just to see their angelic faces. She truly cherished the time she spent with her family, friends, and the slumber parties with her nieces.
Lara battled many types of cancer over the last decade and fought through all the complications that come with treatment until she passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the age of 61 years. She will be dearly missed. Blessed be her memory.

Rest in peace Wilhelmenia, Elroy will miss you. Lara was a very caring soul who’s smile and enthusiasm for life will be missed. I didn’t know she had fallen sick again, but the Lord just needed one more angel.
