Leonette Wittman, age 96, of Hector, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Private Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bird Island City Cemetery.
Obituary
Leonette Katherine (Gander) Wittman was born March 10, 1918 in Lansing, Iowa, the daughter of Herb and Eva (VanBrocklen) Gander. She grew up in Iowa where she attended school through the 8th grade.
In October of 1937 Leonette was united in marriage to Elmer Wittman. They shared 77 years of marriage before Elmer passed away on July 15, 2014. They made their home in Hector where they raised their three children, Elmer (Glen), Noreen (Nancy), and Boyd. Leonette was a homemaker and worked at Green Giant for twenty plus years.
Leonette enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, crafting, dancing, and music, especially George Straight. She also loved helping Elmer with his woodworking. Leonette was one amazing lady.
Leonette is survived by her children:
Elmer Glen Wittman and his wife, Ann,
Noreen Wittman Capers and her husband, Randall, and
Boyd Wittman;
grandchildren: Thelma (Brian) Jorve, Warren Wittman, Neill Capers, Jennifer Wittman, Eve Morgan, Atina Wittman;
great-grandchildren: Malia Wittman, Bailey Jorve, Olivia Jorve, Madeline Wittman, Makenna Wittman, and Jade Wittman.
Leonette was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Cletus “Fritz” Gander and one sister Winnerfrid and husband, Leo Monroe.
