My father, Leighton Manther, was one of Lyle’s close neighbors on Fairview. Lyle was a very good friend to my dad before and after my mom passed away. He came over to Dad’s and played pool with him every week, which Dad loved. Dad treasured Lyle’s friendship and I got a kick out of him, too. My condolences for your loss.

Sue: How lovely to read your comment. Thank you. We will miss dad so much as I’m sure you miss your dad too even after all these years. They were such good friends.

Lyle was a true comedian. My wife and I were neighbors to Lyle and Alta for a number of years. Always pleasant and ready to have fun. I never knew he wore a toupee until all the “Flip thine wig” jokes kept coming. Then Alta always joking about the pork chop that injured her foot. Even after Lyle’s terrible auto accident, the outgoing fun loving people they were, they always dealt through it with laughter. We were sad when they moved to Hutchinson. They were the best neighbors anyone could want short of Lyle having to mow the lawn every four days and it had to be done a certain way you know! Peace be with you both. We loved you then and we loved you now. We’ll never forget you.
Jane says
Oh, I’m so glad you found out about dad’s death. I couldn’t find your address/phone number to let you know. Both mom and dad loved living next to you. They cared about you so much.
Jim Sue Knudsen says
I was sad to hear of Lyle’s passing over the weekend. I got to meet Lyle and Alta on a few occasions when Tom’s family in Brainerd had events here. Lyle had met my dad when my dad was in the heating business in Omaha in the 60’s, they shared another mutual friend, Bob McShane . Tom and Karen live across the road from us, so it was easy to see when the Albrecht’s were gathering where there was always laughter. Lyle had a strong handshake and always a smile, same as Alta.
The pain of your loss will slowly erode but the endless memories will last forever.
RIP Lyle.
