Service Information
Marion Hytjan Graff Tate, age 94, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed on Friday, December 21, 2018, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson Minnesota, with interment in the Sillerud Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Marion Frances Hedin Miller was born on May 13, 1924, at Tracy, Minnesota to Hilding and Frances (Hedin) Miller. She was baptized and confirmed at Sillerud Lutheran Church, rural Balaton, Minnesota. She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton and Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She graduated from Balaton High School and Minneapolis Business College. Marion worked as an accountant for eight years in Minneapolis and then raised her family. She and Ole owned and operated the lumber yard in Balaton for ten years.
Marion married Olaf Hytjan in 1948 and was blessed with five children. Olaf passed in 1982. She married Herbert Graff in 1988. They lived in Balaton, Minnesota and moved to Hutchinson in 2000. Herbert passed in 2006. Marion married Donald Tate, her special high school friend in 2007.
Marion was a past president of the women’s church group and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former 4-H adult leader in Lyon County and volunteered at the Hutchinson Hospital Thrift Shop. Her hobbies included traveling to many foreign countries, making quilts for the needy and playing billiards. Marion and her kids enjoyed a special trip to Norway and Sweden in 2006. She spent winters in Arizona from 1975 to 2011.
Marion passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 94 years.

Daughters, Susan Graff and her husband, Stephen, of Hutchinson, MN,
Carol Krage and her husband, Oliver, of Hutchinson, MN,
Julie Swan and her husband, David, of Danbury, WI;
Son, Randall Hytjan and his wife, Susanne, of Lake Crystal, MN;
Step-Children, Adele (Harry) Tate of Green Valley, AZ
Nancy (Mark) Cross of Brainerd, MN
Jim (Kelly) Tate of Lincoln, NE;
Ten Grandchildren and thirteen Great-Grandchildren.
Marion is preceded in death by her former husbands, Olaf Hytjan and Herbert Graff; Parents, Hilding and Frances Miller; Daughter, Sandra Anne; Brothers, Clifford, Glennon, Vernon, LeRoy, George and Harris Miller and Step-Children, Kathy Struve and Kelly Tate.
