Obituary
Martin Ludwig John Frauendienst was born on February 29, 1920, at the family farm in New Auburn Township, the son of Leonard and Louise (Uecker) Frauendienst. Martin was baptized on March 14, 1920, by Pastor Gust J. Mueller at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. His sponsors were Ludwig Maass, John Frauendienst and Ida Grewe. He was confirmed in his faith on April 9, 1933, by Pastor Mueller. Martin attended country school in New Auburn Township and St. John’s Parochial School.
On April 14, 1941, Martin was united in marriage to Meta Scharpe by Pastor Hans Werner at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. He was an active member at Immanuel and served as a deacon on the Church Council.
Martin was devoted to farming his whole life and began farming during the era when horse power changed to tractor power.
During his life years, he enjoyed watching professional wrestling, trapping muskrats, dancing to old time music, playing cards, and conversing with anyone who visited or crossed his path.
On February 22, 2007, his faithful wife and farming partner passed away after over 65 years of marriage. He then lived alone on the farm until he needed assistance with his health. I had the wonderful pleasure of taking care of Martin for a while at LTC. I would shake his hand every morning, while he updated me on the local weather and news. I heard many stories of his life on his farm. I looked forward to his beaming warm smile and greatly appreciated his friendly, positive attitude. I feel blessed to have met such a wonderful man. Peace to your family.
