Service Information
Mary Lynn Betker, wife of John, age 59, of Stewart, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her home in rural Stewart.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Mary Lynn Betker was born on March 12, 1960, in Benson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Pastor John and Katherine (Chalmers) Longley. Mary was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her faith as a youth. In 1974, Mary’s family moved from Richfield, Minnesota to Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School with the class of 1978. Mary furthered her education at St. Cloud State University for two years.
On April 25, 1981, Mary was united in marriage to John Betker at First Congregational Church by her father, Pastor John Longley. This marriage was blessed with two children, Joelynn and Cory. Mary and John made their home in Stewart, Minnesota. They shared 38 years of marriage.
Mary was employed in the Art Department at Hutchinson Technology Inc. in Hutchinson. After retiring, Mary worked at Walmart; her favorite part was taking care of the flowers. Mary most recently took on daycare for her grandkids, which brought her much joy. Mary was a member of United Church of Christ in Hutchinson. She later became a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Mary enjoyed caring for her grandkids, sewing, gardening, bird watching, and reading. She also enjoyed playing Fantasy Football and hunting for agates at the cabin on Lake Alexander in Cushing, Minnesota. She loved taking trips and making memories with friends and family. Mary cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, family, and friends.
Mary passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at her home in rural Stewart, Minnesota, at the age of 59 years. Blessed be her memory.

Husband, John Betker of Stewart, MN;
Children, Joelynn Vollmer and her husband, Darren, of Buffalo Lake, MN,
Cory Betker of Sauk Rapids, MN;
Grandchildren, Blayke Vollmer, Jesse Vollmer, and Liam Vollmer;
Siblings, Sue Wieker and her husband, Scott, of New Hope, MN;
Joan Hansen and her husband, Dave, of Brooklyn Park, MN,
Paul Longley and his wife, Sandi, of Staples, MN;
many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her Parents, John and Katherine Longley and her siblings in infancy.
