Merlin Dwire, age 76, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, at his home in Norwood Young America.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018, 10:00 A.M. at Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, with interment later at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in New Hope, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Wednesday.
Obituary
Merlin Douglas Dwire was born on April 11, 1942, in Lincoln County, Tyler, Minnesota. He was the son of Roy Gustav and May Christella (Larson) Dwire. Merlin was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in his faith as a youth. He received his education in Ivanhoe, Minnesota, graduating with the Ivanhoe High School Class of 1960. Merlin served eight years in the United States National Guard.
On August 10, 1963, Merlin was united in marriage to Mary Van Overbeke at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, Minnesota. Merlin and Mary made their home in St. Louis Park and Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Daniel and Kari. Merlin and Mary would have shared 55 years of marriage on August 10th.
Merlin worked at Twin City Tile & Marble for 40 plus years and then Imperial Counters for 8 years in the accounting and sales departments retiring in 2014. He was a member of Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America and the Knights of Columbus.
Merlin enjoyed riding horses, reading and playing cribbage. He also loved attending country music concerts. Merlin treasured the time spent with his family and friends.
Merlin passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018, at his home in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 9 days.

Son, Daniel Dwire and his wife, Diane, of Sioux Falls, SD;
Daughter, Kari Govig and her husband, Wayne, of Waconia, MN;
Grandchildren, Hayden Dwire, Carolyn Dwire, Katelyn Dwire, Evan Govig, Logan Govig;
Sister, Sharon Sannerud and her husband, Eugene “Gene”, of Granite Falls, MN;
Brother, Keith Dwire and his wife, Dianne, of Algona, IA;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and friends.
Merlin is preceded in death by his Parents, Roy and May Dwire; Brother, Robert Dwire and his wife, Oda.

I have found comfort in scriptures like Job 14:14,15 which remind me that God cares so deeply for us that he yearns for the day when he will bring us back to life on earth (John 5:28, 29).
