Service Information
Phoebe Olson, age 89, of Buffalo Lake, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, for one hour prior to the Service, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., at Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake.
Obituary
Phoebe Omeita Olson was born November 5, 1927, in Becker, Minnesota, the daughter of Samuel and Ellen (Metzger) McCalla. Phoebe grew up in Becker, and graduated with the Class of 1945 from the Becker High School. Following graduation she worked at the Becker Post Office until she was married.
On November 5, 1947, Phoebe was united in marriage to Murlin Olson. They moved to Buffalo Lake where they raised their four children: Mary, Norman, Stanley, and Luanne. They enjoyed their life of farming until retirement in 1990. Phoebe and Murlin had shared 62 years of marriage when Murlin passed away on July 7, 2010. Phoebe moved into the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in 2010.
Throughout the busy and wonderful years as a wife, mother, and “farmerette,” Phoebe was also an avid gardener, she loved flowers and digging in the dirt. She was noted for her baking skills, and her recipes are still used and cherished. Phoebe was an active member of Zion United Methodist Church in Buffalo Lake. She taught Sunday school for a number of years, and was involved with a Bible Study group. In her leisure time she was a 4-H Leader, enjoyed her project group, birthday group, family events, and bus trips.
On Thursday evening, April 13, 2017, Phoebe passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital, having reached the age of 89 years. Her sweet, kind nature and delightful laugh will be remembered and cherished by family and friends. Blessed be her memory.

Stanley Olson of Holts Summit, MO, and
Luanne Wussow and her husband Alan of Rochester, MN;
Grandchildren: Thomas (Kimberly) Lade of Beaver Creek, OH, and Matthew (Kelly) Lade of Mankato;
Great-grandchildren: Briana and Alec Lade of Mankato, Jarred Lade of League City, TX, and Milena, Kaylee, Justin, and Cody Lade of Beaver Creek, OH;
Siblings: Lowell McCalla (Marcie) of Edina, Virginia Peterson of Backus, Leola Moores of Winter, WI;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Murlin, and by her siblings: Russell, Eugene, Don, Merlin, Phyllis, Doug, Marian, Jack, and Wayne.
