Richard Smith, age 77, of Glencoe, Minnesota, formerly of Green Isle & New Ulm, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Glenfields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., one-hour prior the service at the church.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required.

Obituary
Richard William Smith was born on September 8, 1943, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He was the son of William and Melinda (Scheible) Smith. Richard was baptized as an infant on October 3, 1943, by Rev. Fred Iseli at Frieden’s Evangelical Reformed Church in New Ulm, Minnesota, and later was confirmed in his faith on October 29, 1995, by Rev. Vance Becker at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. He received his education in New Ulm, Minnesota, graduating with the New Ulm High School Class of 1964.
On August 8, 1992, Richard was united in marriage to Betty Ann Cohrs by Rev. Harvey G. Kath at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. Richard made his home in New Ulm, Green Isle and Glencoe, Minnesota. They shared over 22 years of marriage until Betty Ann passed away on October 25, 2014.
Richard worked at Farmhand in Green Isle, Minnesota, as a forklift driver. He was member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Richard was a social person. He enjoyed driving around with Betty and loved his dog. Family was very important to him and he treasured the time spent with them and his friends.
Richard passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 25 days.

Sisters-In-Law, Carol Swenson and her husband, Allen, of Litchfield, MN,
Elaine White and her husband, Larry, of Mayer, MN,
Joy Cohrs of Glencoe, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Other relatives and many friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his Parents, William and Melinda Smith; Wife, Betty Ann Smith; Sister, Irene Tabbert.

My deepest sympathies to Elaine and Richard’s family. I will hold his memory and his stories and love of his wife in my heart. He had big hopes/dreams of going home in the new year and was working hard to conquer h it s obstacles. I believe God listened and took him home.
