Vincent Van Dorpe, age 83, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, from 9:30-11:00 A.M., 1-1/2 hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Vincent John Van Dorpe was born on May 15, 1933, in Minneota, Minnesota. He was the son of Camiel and Alma (Bjerkstrand) Van Dorpe. Vincent was baptized as an infant on May 21, 1933, by Father O’Donnell and later was confirmed in his faith as a youth on October 7, 1945, both at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota, Minnesota. He received his education at St. Edward Catholic School in Minneota, Minnesota. Vincent entered active military service in the United States Air Force on January 23, 1953. He received an Honorable Discharge on January 22, 1957, at Carswell Air Force Base in Texas as an Airman First Class.
On May 20, 1954, Vincent was united in marriage to Janet Arlene Jacobsen by Father Vincent Hope at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota, Minnesota. Vincent and Janet made their home in Marshall, Le Sueur and in 1980 moved to Glencoe, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Paula, John, Brian, Mark and David. Vincent and Janet shared over 62 years of marriage.
Vincent worked in the plumbing and heating field until 1963 when he started working for Green Giant’s Research and Development team creating prototype machinery. He was an active member at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Vincent was also a member of the Le Sueur American Legion Post #55.
Vincent was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking and making home improvements. Vincent took pride in his work. He treasured the time spent with his family and friends.
Vincent passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 28 days.
