Lillian Ida (Schuette) Dammann was born on August 26, 1920, in Bergen Township, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Emma (Maack) Schuette. Lillian was baptized as an infant on September 12, 1920, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, both by Rev. R. Zwintscher at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota. She attended country school near her home.
On June 20, 1948, Lillian was united in marriage to Raymond Arthur Dammann by Rev. C. E. Mix at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, Minnesota. In 2010, Lillian moved to Grand Meadows and then in 2013, she became a resident of Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care. Lillian and Ray shared over 47 years of marriage before Ray passed away on October 31, 1995.
Lillian was a hard working farmwife, and took great pride in working beside her husband on the family farm. In the 50’s and 60’s, they were members of The Flying Farmers of America. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, where she served on the Ladies Aid. Lillian also volunteered at the Clothing Depot.
The farm was the center of Lillian’s life. She loved to be outside in her gardens of MANY vegetables and flowers, especially her geraniums. There was always an overabundance she would share. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, canning, her card party groups and visiting with friends. Lillian treasured her family.
