Service Information
Bernette Muchow, age 87, of Gaylord passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 11, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, December 10, 2018, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Bernette Mildred Josphine Muchow was born on September 19, 1931, on the home farm in Dryden Township. She was the daughter of Walter and Kathryn (Gerdees) Boettcher. Bernette was baptized as an infant on October 18, 1931, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. She was confirmed in her faith on June 17, 1945, by Pastor Kolberg at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Brownton. She received her education at District 48 in New Auburn, Minnesota.
On June 1, 1949, Bernette was united in marriage to Stanley Fredin at St. Paul’s Church in New Ulm. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Dryden Township, Sibley County. Bernette was a loving mother and homemaker. They were blessed with two sons, Allen and Roger. They shared 27 years of marriage before Stanley’s sudden death at 45 years old on January 10, 1975.
On December 3, 1977, Bernette was united in marriage in Elmer Muchow at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. After their marriage, the couple lived in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. Bernette and Elmer shared 39 years of marriage before Elmer passed away on April 29, 2017.
Bernette was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville in Dryden Township. She belonged to the Ladies Mission Society for many years.
Bernette worked at the Good Samaritan Society Home in Arlington, Minnesota, as a N.A.R. She always had a passion for nursing since she was a teenager. Bernette always helped on the farm with many duties while working at the Good Samaritan Society Home.
Country living was a huge passion of Bernette; nature was in her heart for she knew many birds and animals by their name. Spending time outside with her flower and vegetable gardens, she still had time for helping others. Bernette was a great cook, canning numerous vegetables and jams every year. She would enjoy having her children and grandchildren visit. She would always feed them, not with just a cookie or piece of cake, but lots of food.
Bernette passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis at the age of 87 years. Blessed be her memory.

Sisters-In-Law, Doris Hoppe, Marvel Fredin, Lois Pagel, Joyce Fredin and Rocelle Sokolosky;
Many Nieces, Nephews, and her dog, Teddy.
Bernette was preceded in death by her Parents, Walter and Kathryn Boettcher; Husband’s, Stanley Fredin and Elmer Muchow; Sisters, Bernice Keim, Grace Mathews, and Gladys Tauer, other relatives and friends.
