Obituary
Craig “Mags” Matthew Miller was born on January 13, 1957, in Waconia, Minnesota. He was the son of Karl and Jeanette (Hubler) Miller. Craig was baptized as an infant at First Presbyterian Church in Maple Plain, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at First Congregational Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. He received his education in Glencoe, and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School Class of 1975.
In 1992, Craig was united in marriage to Judith Thompson and he promptly adopted her two children, Joseph and Derrick. Craig and Judith resided in Glencoe and shared 14 years of marriage.
Craig was employed at Telex Communications Inc. in Glencoe, then Control Data in Chanhassen, and then decided to work with his father. In 1988, he earned his Real Estate Appraiser License and formed Miller 2 Realty and Appraisals. Craig was an active member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe where he was a Deacon for many years. He was privileged to attend the Blandin Foundation where he learned to make small towns better and enjoyed getting to know the 25 members of this group. Craig was rather excited to be part of the community serving on the Glencoe Library Board and the Glencoe Foundation.
Craig was a jack-of-all-trades and a lifelong learner, if it could be done, Craig could do it. He was a private pilot and enjoyed building and flying experimental aircraft. He was a founding member of EAA Chapter 92 which is a non-profit group comprised of men and women who love aviation, aircraft building, and volunteering. Craig also enjoyed riding motorcycle, traveling, camping, hiking, canoeing, and kayaking. He collected and restored computers, was an avid geocacher, loved genealogy, and frequented many garage sales. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In late September 2019, Craig suffered a massively destructive stroke and became a resident at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe. After a brave and difficult struggle, Craig passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019, at the age of 62 years, 11 months and 9 days. Blessed be his memory.
Craig is survived by his adopted Sons, Joe Besmehn and Derrick Miller and their children; Mother, Jeanette (Hubler) Miller; Sister, Heidi Lotsberg; Brother, Fred and his wife, Becky Miller and their son, Wyatt; former Wife, Judi Thompson; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins by the dozens, and many friends.
