Obituary
Henrietta Mae Anderson was born March 15, 1930 in Marshalltown, Iowa. In her high school years she moved to Henning, Minnesota, with her family. Hank, as she was lovingly nicknamed throughout her life, graduated with the Class of 1948 from the Henning Public School. After high school she moved to her family living in Willmar, Minnesota. There, she had a lot of fun being a telephone operator with the phone company.
On October 15, 1950, Hank was united in marriage to Curtis Anderson at the Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Palmyra township, rural Hector, Minnesota. Here she was also confirmed and baptized in her faith. Curt and Hank made their home in Hector and were blessed with three children, Lee, Mike, and Joni. Hank was a housewife and homemaker while staying active at church and in the community. She worked with progressive committees that established the Hector Swimming Pool, the Hector Library, and the Renville County Humane Society. Hank was truly a people person who loved good conversation; she talked with anyone and everyone. Her passions were traveling, hiking, and camping around the country in their RV. Hank was fortunate to have visited all 50 states with trips abroad. She was an avid sports fan, and loved music, reading books and poetry, and doing the NYT crossword puzzles daily.
Curt and Hank shared 39 years of marriage when Curt passed away on May 30, 1990. Hank eventually moved to the twin cities to be nearer to her children, where she remained active in her new community. Dealing with health issues in 2017, Hank chose to move back home to live at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center where she passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, March 7, 2019, having reached the age of 88 years, 11 months, 22 days. Blessed be her memory among her family and friends.
Hank is survived by her children, Lee Anderson of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Joni Wells (Greg) of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Daughter-in-law, Sue Anderson of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; Grandson, Ryan Streeter of NE Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sister, Sherry Shedenhelm (Kenn) of Morton, Illinois; and Curt’s siblings, Marilyn Jacobson of Northfield, Minnesota, Darlene (Doug) Sandgren of Hector, Minnesota, Darwin Anderson of Lompoc, California; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Hank was preceded in death by her Parents, Erma (Cox) and Iver Wick; Husband, Curt Anderson; and by her Son, Mike Anderson.
