Howard “Delbert” Klabunde, age 81, of Cambridge, Minnesota, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018, at his home in Cambridge.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Military Honors by the Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Obituary
Howard “Delbert” Klabunde was born on January 9, 1937, in Douglas County, Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of Otto and Minnie (Benke) Klabunde. Delbert was baptized as an infant on March 7, 1937, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 2, 1950, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. He received his education in Brownton and was a graduate of the Brownton High School Class of 1956.
Delbert entered active military service in the United States Army National Guard on November 29, 1954, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, and served his country during the Vietnam War. He received an Honorable Discharge on November 28, 1960, and achieved the rank of Specialist Fifth Class (SP5).
On May 14, 1960, Delbert was united in marriage to Janice Mae Zieman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Tammy, Holly and Cory. Delbert and Janice resided in Hutchinson for 52 years. In August of 2012, they moved to The Mist Apartments in Spring Park, Minnesota and most recently resided in Cambridge. Delbert and Janice shared 58 years of marriage.
Delbert was employed at 3M in Hutchinson for 34 years and retired on May 1, 1993, as a supervisor. Delbert was a former member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Delbert was a volunteer for the Hutchinson Fire Department from 1964 to 1980 and also held the position as Treasurer for several years. Delbert was also a member of the American Legion Post 96 in Hutchinson.
Delbert enjoyed dancing, casinos, Polka, and Christian music. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
Delbert passed away on Monday, August 20, 2018, at his home in Cambridge, at the age of 81 years. Blessed be his memory.

Great Grandchildren, Madilyn Prior, Jameson Prior, Helaina Brannon-Goebel, Thomas Roach and Maelyn Binns

Arlie Klabunde and his significant other, Linda Hoines of Litchfield, MN;

Delbert is preceded in death by his Parents, Otto and Minnie Klabunde; Father and Mother-In-Law, Martin and Mable Zieman, Brother, Ray Klabunde and his wife, Jean; Sister, Alice Paustion and her husband, Keiffer; Brothers-In-Law, John Markgraf, Darvin Zieman and Gary Zieman; Sister-In-Law, Corrine Klabunde.
