James “Jim” Breitkreutz, age 72, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Private Family Service will be held Friday, May 24, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Riverside Church in Hutchinson.
Public Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. at VFW Post 906 in Hutchinson.
Interment will be in the Sumter Cemetery in Sumter Township, McLeod County, at a later date.
Arrangements are with Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Obituary
James “Jim” Breitkreutz was born on December 29, 1946, in Hutchinson Minnesota. He was the son of Ernest and Beulah (Nelson) Breitkreutz. Jim was baptized as an infant and was confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at the United Methodist Church in Hector, Minnesota. He received his education in Hector, graduating with the Hector High School class of 1964. He furthered his education at Willmar Jr. College (Ridgewater).
Jim enlisted in active duty in the United States Air Force on February 3, 1965, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served as a Medical Service Specialist. Jim’s last assignment was with the 4510 Combat Support Squadron as Tactical Air Command. He was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the National Defense Service Medal. Jim received an Honorable Discharge on October 2, 1968, at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona, earning the rank of Sergeant.
Jim married Pearl Steinborn. This marriage was blessed with 5 children, Aaron, Brice, Robert, Joseph and, Ashley.
After serving in the Air Force, Jim was employed as a Supervisor at 3M in Hutchinson. He worked there for 32 ½ years, before retiring in 2002. He most recently was employed with West Central Industries in Hutchinson.
Jim proudly raised and showed English Parakeets (Budgerigar). He was also a member of the American Budgerigar Society. Jim enjoyed watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. He also enjoyed reading, watching old westerns, and playing Sudoku. Jim cherished his time spent with his children, grandchildren and family.
Jim passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 72 years. Blessed be his memory.

Jim is preceded in death by his Parents, Ernest and Beulah Breitkreutz; Sisters, Alice Smith, and Linda Sauter; and Brother-In-Law, Richard Gorr.
