Lillian Novak, age 96, of Hutchinson, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with interment in the St. Anastasia Catholic Church Cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. at the church. There will be a Council of Catholic Women Rosary at 10:00 A.M.
Arrangements are with the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Obituary
Lillian Rita Novak was born on October 22, 1921, in Hale Township, Silver Lake, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Rudolph and Ludmila (Prokop) Chrast. Lillian was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth both at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. She received her education in Hale Township through District 62.
On June 26, 1946, Lillian was united in marriage to Dominic Novak at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Silver Lake. This marriage was blessed with three children, Phyllis, Bruce, and Michele. Lillian and Dominic resided in Silver Lake for a short time before moving to Hutchinson in 1948. They shared 40 years of marriage until Dominic passed away on November 30, 1986.
Lillian was employed at Green Giant in Glencoe and the Hutchinson High School for 18 years. She retired in 1983. Lillian was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson; St. Monica’s Group and volunteered at Burns Manor in Hutchinson for several years. She also was a member of the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary Post #96.
Lillian enjoyed quilting and embroidering. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and a good game of cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
When Lillian needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on December 30, 2011. She passed away there on Monday, April 2, 2018, at the age of 96 years. Blessed be her memory.

Bruce Novak and his wife, Shelly, of Whitney, TX,
Michele Ebert and her husband, Jerry, of Hutchinson, MN;
Grandchildren, Shane and Wade Raddatz, Melyssa and Barbara Willis, Nicole (Lance) Grobe, and Joel (Beth) Ebert;
Great-Grandchildren, Brent, Taylor, Ben, Kate, Addison and Dylan;
Sister In-Law, Theresa Chrast, of Silver Lake, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Lillian is preceded in death by her Parents, Rudolph and Ludmila Chrast; Spouse, Dominic Novak; and Brothers, Louis Chrast, Ralph Chrast, Frank Chrast, Emil Chrast, Stanley Chrast, and Zickmond Chrast.
