Obituary
Marion Clara Padrnos was born on May 24, 1933, in Sumter Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Elwin and Cora (Block) Karstens. Marion was baptized as an infant in 1933 and confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. John’s Church in rural Biscay, McLeod County, Minnesota. She received her education at country school #30 in Sumter Township and was a graduate of Brownton High School Class of 1951, with the distinct honor of Valedictorian and Homecoming Queen. After high school, she worked for the Brownton Dental Office.
On March 11, 1953, Marion was united in marriage to Donald Padrnos at the Lester Prairie Parsonage. This marriage was blessed with three children, Linda, Wade, and June. Marion and Donald resided in Rapid City, South Dakota, while Don was in the Air Force and in Savage, Minnesota, while Don attended school. Later, they lived in Brownton, and most recently Hutchinson, Minnesota. Marion and Donald shared 66 years of marriage.
Marion was employed at Brownton Dental Clinic, Wagner Pharmacy, and then in the production department at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing for 20 years, until her retirement on June 1, 1993. She was an active member of St. John’s Church, Ladies Aid at Brownton Congregational Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Marion enjoyed sewing, gardening, and fishing at their cabin up north. She and Don enjoyed going on bus trips, Florida vacations and taking all the grandchildren to Washington State. Marion especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
